Welcome

This resource guide supplements our Let's Talk About Race kits, designed to help caregivers use picture books as tools to talk to children about race, racism and social justice.

Preschool (ages 2 - 5) and Elementary (1st to 4th grade) kits are available to be checked out by Milton residents from our Library of Things. Each kit contains 4 books, 3 toys and an activity sheet with discussion ideas, reading questions, and play and draw suggestions.

-How do you feel when you share special food with your family? Have you ever shared this special food with someone outside of your family? If you have, how did you feel when that person reacted to your special food? If not, can you think of someone who might enjoy sharing this special food with you?

Activity
- Create their special family dish with a member of their family to help them understand how every family has something that’s special and unique even theirs, and just like the family in the story.
